The ASPHO Nominating Committee is soliciting nominations for candidates for Secretary-Treasurer, Two Board of Trustee-at-Large and Two Nominating Committee members.
Members are encouraged to nominate regular or international members who are in good standing for a minimum of three years. The elected candidates will take office at the close of the 2017 Annual Meeting in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
Positions and Responsibilities
The Secretary-Treasurer’s role is to oversee the financial position of the organization and with support of the finance staff, to report on the financial position to the Board of Trustees. This includes reviewing financial policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board, maintaining knowledge of ASPHO’s financial goals and objectives, presenting the annual budget to the Board for approval, and ensuring that a certified audit or review is conducted annually. In addition, the Secretary-Treasurer chairs the Finance Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. The Secretary-Treasurer will serve a three-year term.
Trustee-at-Large responsibilities include setting organizational direction and strategic planning, stewardship of the society and its assets, representing the needs of the membership, and serving as Board Liaisons to committees. The Board typically meets eight times per year (six times by conference call and twice in person). Trustees-at-Large will serve a three-year term. View current Board of Trustee members.
Responsibilities for Nominating Committee members include soliciting nominations and developing a slate of candidates for officer, Trustee-at-Large, and Nominating Committee positions. The Nominating Committee’s work typically entails one conference call as well as communication with selected candidates. Nominating Committee members will serve a three-year term.
How to Nominate
The ASPHO Nominating Committee requests that all nominations be as complete as possible. For each nominee, complete the survey form (including the nominee’s name, current position and academic rank, areas of interest, ASPHO involvement, professional activities and qualifications) along with submission of the nominee’s Biosketch. Members may submit as many nominations for each position as they please, and can choose to self-nominate.
