Call for Nominations
The ASPHO Nominating Committee is soliciting nominations for candidates for Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and two At-Large Board of Trustees members.
The Nominating Committee’s goal is to ensure balanced representation on the Board of Trustees from nominees with organizational awareness and knowledge through ASPHO involvement, as well as excellent communication skills demonstrated by an ability to listen and engage thoughtfully with others.
Members are encouraged to nominate regular or international members in good standing and who can help lead ASPHO into the future as guided by the Society’s Strategic Plan and commitment to diversity. The Vice President assists the President and Executive Director in a variety of roles, including agenda development, issue monitoring, performing the President’s duties in his/her absence, assisting with committee chair appointments, and conducting new member orientation. The Vice President also serves as a member of the Executive and Finance Committees. Serving as Vice President is a six-year commitment – serving two-year terms as Vice President (2020-2022), as President (2022-2024), and as Immediate Past President (2024-2026.)
The Secretary-Treasurer’s role is to oversee the financial position of the organization and with support of the finance staff, to report on the financial position to the Board of Trustees. This includes reviewing financial policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board, maintaining knowledge of ASPHO’s financial goals, presenting the annual budget to the Board for approval, and ensuring that a certified audit is conducted annually. In addition, the Secretary-Treasurer chairs the Finance Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. The Secretary-Treasurer will serve a three-year term.
At-Large Trustee responsibilities include setting organizational direction and strategic planning, stewardship of the Society and its assets, representing the needs of the membership, and serving as Board liaison to committees. The Board typically meets six times per year (four times by conference call and twice in person.) At-Large Trustees will serve a three-year term.
