Adolescent and Young Adult Hematology/Oncology Special Interest Group

The mission of the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Hematology/Oncology Special Interest Group is to improve the care of adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood disorders through education, clinical collaboration, advocacy, and research initiatives by supporting ASPHO members in this field.  

Goals:

  1. Gain understanding of and identify areas of need within the AYA landscape.
  2. Collaborate to identify gaps in available tools for both patient and care provider education. 
  3. Facilitate program building that can be adapted to various program models and provide the highest level of care to AYAs with cancer and blood disorders during treatment at pediatric care centers and for optimal transition to adult providers.
  4. Identify advocacy topics for AYA hematology/oncology patients to present to the ASPHO Advocacy Committee.
  5. Develop relationships and scientific questions that lead to research collaboration for the advancement of AYA hematology and oncology.
  6. Develop onsite conference SIG education and opportunities for ongoing collaboration within the AYA hematology/oncology arena.

A discussion group in the ASPHO member community has been designated for members of the SIG to share information, documents, links and files. Members can join the SIG from their My Account Special Interest Groups account page. Current SIG members can access the community directly to participate.
